Participants will study Russian for 20 hours per week and teach English 16 hours per week over the period of the internship. Candidates are not required to have previously taught English, but preference will be given to applicants with teaching experience.

Teaching will be held in groups of no more than 10 students or individually. A training course will be given at the start of the program.

This opportunity is open to native speakers of English.

This may be an opportunity for you if:

  • you may want to teach English, but are not ready to commit to a year-long contract;
  • you studied Russian in college and want to continue, but language schools abroad are beyond your budget;
  • you are interested in graduate study or a career in Slavic studies or international relations.

For legal reasons the program works on a volunteer basis and is unpaid, but NovaMova will provide successful applicants with the following for the duration of the program:

  • 20 hours of group Russian language courses per week for the period of the internship;
  • a shared apartment with 2 other interns;
  • prepaid monthly passes for the metropolitan public transport system.

Requirements:

  1. bachelor’s degree (new and recent graduates are encouraged to apply);
  2. experience in teaching English is preferable;
  3. TEFL, CELTA and other teaching qualifications are advantageous, but not necessary.

To apply send your resume, a copy of your college transcript, as well as a brief cover letter, describing your relevant interests and experience and why you would be a good candidate for this program, to info@novamova.net (attn. Gela Turabelidze).
